New Scarlatti Edition—Viloteau/Bianco

Several years ago, after Thomas Viloteau won the GFA competition (2006), he released a DVD with Mel Bay as a part of his winner’s package. On that DVD were a couple of stunning transcriptions of Scarlatti sonatas—one in particular, K53, became infamous for its difficulty and the ease and precision with which Viloteau performed it.

Recently that same sonata (along with another) made its way onto another recording, Gabriel Bianco’s all-Italian composers album, Capricci.

Now Bianco and Viloteau have just released a new edition of transcriptions (three from Thomas, two from Gabriel) of K53 and four other sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti, which you can check out here.
