Kristen Waligora announces six-movement guitar suite The River Carried Us

October 12, 2026 by CGR Leave a Comment

Portland-based classical guitarist and composer Kristen Waligora has announced The River Carried Us, a six-movement suite for solo guitar. She plans to release the work as a six-track EP and digital score on 22 October 2026, followed by an uninterrupted performance film on 29 October.

Waligora composed and performs the suite. In material sent to Classical Guitar Review, she describes its six connected movements as reflections on memory, loss, the passage of time and renewal. She also created an original oil painting to accompany the published score.

The project brings together Waligora’s work in music and painting. She says painting has shaped how she approaches form, intuition and discovery in composing for guitar. Her press release lists a performance video of the sixth movement, Taking Flight, for 15 October 2026, ahead of the EP and complete performance film.

Waligora’s earlier album, In the Night’s Wood, has been featured by BBC Radio 3, NPR and Classical Guitar Magazine, according to her website.
