Classical Guitar Review is led by Dr. Simon Powis. This notice explains how we handle information when you browse the site, contact us, submit material, leave a comment or register interest in our digest. For privacy questions or requests, email classicalguitarreview@gmail.com.
Information you choose to share
Editorial submissions and enquiries. We collect the name, email address, relationship to the subject and content you provide, including event details and supporting links. Submissions are stored in a private WordPress inbox and are intended to be forwarded to our editorial Gmail address. We use them to assess material, check facts, contact you and prepare content for review. Your contact email is not intended for publication. Avoid including sensitive personal information or information about others that is not needed for the submission.
Digest interest. We store your email address, consent wording and the time of your request privately. The weekly digest is preparing to launch; signing up currently records interest and does not start email delivery. We will explain any mailing-list provider and unsubscribe process before delivery launches. You can withdraw your request by emailing us.
Comments. If you leave a comment, WordPress collects the form details, IP address and browser information to help manage comments and detect spam. Your comment and chosen display name may be public. Email addresses are not displayed as part of the comment. Comments may be checked by the Akismet spam-detection service. If avatars are enabled, Gravatar may receive a hash derived from your email address; its privacy notice explains its handling of information.
Browsing, security and service providers
The server and services delivering this site may process technical information such as your IP address, requested pages, browser details and access times to serve pages, diagnose problems and protect the site. Our forms use a temporary hashed identifier derived from an IP address to limit repeated submissions. Hosting, email and spam-protection providers process information as part of providing their services.
We use submitted information to respond to requests and run the publication. We use Google Analytics to understand site usage. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, or to withdraw consent and complain to your local data-protection authority. Contact us to make a request; we may need to verify your identity.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics helps us understand visits and use of the site. It can process information about pages viewed, interactions, device and browser characteristics, approximate location and identifiers stored in cookies. The Google tag loads automatically when you visit the site with JavaScript enabled. There is no on-site analytics consent popup. We do not intentionally send form contents, names or email addresses to Analytics. Advertising personalisation and Google Signals are disabled in our tag configuration.
Google explains its processing at How Google uses information from sites that use its services. Google and other providers may process information in countries outside your own under their applicable terms and safeguards.
Cookies and browser storage
- Analytics: Google Analytics may set cookies when Analytics loads. Their lifetime depends on Google’s configuration and browser behaviour, and can be up to two years.
- Site functions: WordPress may use cookies for sign-in, security or remembering comment details when requested. These serve the function you choose to use.
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Google also provides an Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Browser controls may limit tracking but do not erase information already sent to Google.
Videos, podcasts and external links
External embedded players are held back until you choose “Load player.” Loading a player connects to that provider, which may receive your IP address and browser information and use cookies under its own policy. Playing podcast audio also connects to the podcast host. Some externally hosted images may connect to their provider when displayed. Visiting an external link takes you to a service governed by its own privacy notice. These players do not load automatically with Analytics.
Retention and editorial records
Editorial enquiries, submissions and signup requests are retained while needed for their stated purpose and for relevant correspondence or record-keeping. Published material and comments may form part of the site’s archive. You can ask us to remove personal information; some material may need to be retained for legitimate editorial, security or legal reasons. Backup copies may remain until the relevant backups are replaced.
Changes and contact
We will update this page when our services or data practices change. For questions, corrections or a request concerning your information, contact classicalguitarreview@gmail.com.
