The Montenegrin Guitar Duo’s J. S. Bach: French Suites presents Goran Krivokapić and Danijel Cerović’s arrangements of the first three suites for two guitars. Released by Red Poppy Records on 19 August 2026, the album follows the duo’s recordings of Bach’s complete English Suites for Naxos.
The programme comprises the French Suite No. 1 in D minor, BWV 812; No. 2 in C minor, BWV 813; and No. 3 in B minor, BWV 814. Krivokapić and Cerović are credited as both arrangers and performers.
Each suite begins with an Allemande, Courante and Sarabande, then moves through a different grouping of dances before its closing Gigue. The first includes paired Menuets; the second adds an Air and Menuet; and the third includes an Anglaise and a Menuet with Trio. Across the three suites, the album contains 17 tracks.
The recording was made at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Kotor, Montenegro, with recording and production by Émilie Fend of Musik.Im.Blick.
Transcription is an established part of the duo’s work. Their two Naxos volumes of the English Suites appeared in 2015 and 2018. In their official biography, the musicians identify expanding the guitar repertoire and developing its place in chamber music as central aims.
