Hungarian guitarist Zsombor Sidoo has shared a complete performance of Bach’s Sonata No. 2, BWV 1003, on his own YouTube channel. Published on 13 September 2026, the film was recorded in Honrath, Germany, with audio and video by Musik.Im.Blick’s Émilie Fend.
Sidoo plays a Bernhard Kresse guitar, identified in the credits as a 2011 Stauffer model. The programme follows all four movements: Grave, Fuga, Andante and Allegro.
Give the whole sonata time
At just under 23 minutes, this is a chance to follow a complete large-scale work rather than an isolated excerpt. Listen for the changing relationship between a singing line and the implied voices around it: a central question when music for solo violin is transferred to guitar.
For a second listening, the publisher provides movement markers: Grave at 0:00, Fuga at 4:29, Andante at 11:25 and Allegro at 16:25. These make it easy to return to a movement without losing sight of its place in the whole.
