The Cádiz Guitar Festival reaches its final weekend with free concerts across Cádiz, Jerez de la Frontera, Rota and El Puerto de Santa María. For classical-guitar listeners, the programme offers more than a sequence of solo recitals: voice and guitar, young performers and chamber partnerships share the closing days.

On Saturday 7 November, soprano Júlia Farrés-Llongueras and guitarist José Luis Ruiz del Puerto perform at 7pm in the Sala Julián Cuadra of Jerez’s Archaeological Museum, on Plaza del Mercado. Sunday brings María Esther Guzmán to Cádiz’s La Caleta–Espacio Fernando Quiñones at 1pm.

Different ways to hear the guitar

The pairing of a singer and guitarist invites a different kind of attention from a solo recital. Text, breath and instrumental colour become shared responsibilities, while the guitar can move between accompaniment and an answering voice. The festival’s artist profile describes Farrés-Llongueras’s work across opera, oratorio and concert song, including her interest in Catalan repertoire.

Guzmán’s appearance offers a contrasting focus on the solo instrument. The festival highlights her longstanding connection with Japan and her work in classical and Spanish repertoire. No detailed work-by-work programme is given on these two event pages, so particular compositions should not be assumed.

A festival across several towns

The weekend also includes Angélica Rodríguez and Quartett HANA at Rota’s Castillo de Luna on Friday 6 November at 8pm. On Sunday 8 November at 11am, Stanislav Steshenko and Cuarteto Chagall appear at Crisol–Monasterio de San Miguel in El Puerto de Santa María.

These events form part of a festival bearing the name of composer, guitarist and patron Ángel G. Piñero. Its schedule distinguishes established-artist concerts from a series connected with winners of the international competition that also carries his name.

Admission is free, subject to capacity. The individual pages for the Jerez duo and Guzmán specify entry in arrival order, making an early arrival sensible. Check the official schedule for the latest venue and programme information.
