When: 3 November 2026 · 1–2pm, London time
Where: Wigmore Hall, 36 Wigmore Street, London W1U 2BP, United Kingdom
Samrat Majumder returns to the YCAT Wigmore Lunchtime Series on Tuesday 3 November with a programme connecting the guitar’s inherited lute repertoire to a new commission.
Dowland’s fancies and Bach’s Suite in E minor, BWV 996, sit alongside music from Scottish lute manuscripts and a work by YCAT Composer Fellow Arthur Keegan. YCAT identifies the Keegan commission as a world premiere.
Why put it in the diary?
For listeners interested in how guitarists build programmes, this recital offers an appealing combination: historical music associated with another plucked instrument, Scottish sources and a newly commissioned work. It is also an opportunity to hear a developing international solo career in a chamber-music setting.
